Week 36 Review: Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit

From Goodreads:
Joanna Gordon has been out and proud for years, but when her popular radio evangelist father remarries and decides to move all three of them from Atlanta to the more conservative Rome, Georgia, he asks Jo to do the impossible: to lie low for the rest of her senior year. And Jo reluctantly agrees.

Although it is (mostly) much easier for Jo to fit in as a straight girl, things get complicated when she meets Mary Carlson, the oh-so-tempting sister of her new friend at school. But Jo couldn't possibly think of breaking her promise to her dad. Even if she's starting to fall for the girl. Even if there's a chance Mary Carlson might be interested in her, too. Right?

My Review:
I loved reading this book, it was so fantastic! There's not a lot of LGBT books out there, but this excellent book joins their ranks! And part of the reason that it's so excellent is because it's part of those ranks! I loved it!

Jo was pretty awesome. She was out, and then came back into the closet when she moved with her family. Which wasn't a very accepting thing to be asked to do. And yeah, life is easier this way, especially in the very closed off community that she moved to. Still.

She's torn in all these directions, of keeping her promise to pretend to be straight, of keeping true to herself, and falling in love with Marcy Carlson. Yeah. It was complicated, and she was a teenaged girl, and a human, so of course things went wrong!

But while it goes wrong, it also goes right! I loved the ups and downs of this book, and yeah, it all worked out in the end! It hurt for a while, but then things were worked out, and yeah, I just lvoed that, made for a really wonderful ending!

This book was fantastic, and I can't wait to read more by Jaye Robin Brown!
